BASIC OBEDIENCE VIDEOS

COME: 3 STEP RECALL

The recall is not a singular event! It's a 3 part sequence including: name recognition / focus + movement towards handler + arrival! Make sure to click the moment the dog orients to you AND the split second they begin to move toward you! Rewards should be given on arrival close to the handler's body to ensure the dog does not over-shoot the handler. Make sure to use high value rewards for recall training to further strengthen the command!

LEASH AWARENESS

Some dogs just simply love pulling. In those cases, working on leash awareness is critical to clear communication and success. With this exercise, your dog will learn 1. where the end of the leash is 2. avoid the end of the leash and 3. remain engaged with you for rewards. This exercise is designed to instill new (good) habits in your dog and to ensure they have a clear understanding of your expectations. Once they have mastered this skill, you can move on to the EBB AND FLOW method of loose lead walking.

LEASH PRESSURE INTRO

Pressure can be a very useful tool to help steer and guide your dog into the correct position! A gentle touch, constant feedback, and timely release helps your dog navigate walking with you! Add on the clicker and rewards for following your lead ... and your dog will get the hang of it in no time! This is a great way to introduce pressure for dogs which may lack some confidence, who have limited leash experience, or who move all over the place while walking.
