K9ology is seeking a part-time assistant to join our Shenandoah Valley operation!

ABOUT US

K9ology is a small dog training and pet service company situated on a 5-acre farm in Churchville, Virginia. Our mission is to provide exceptional training and care for dogs and their owners.

 

ABOUT THE JOB
The role of the assistant will involve helping with various tasks and duties on an as-needed basis. The weekly commitment is approximately 4-6 hours, with the potential for expansion. Occasional weekends may be required.

The starting pay is $15 an hour, with opportunities for growth and advancement. Comprehensive job training will be provided, and prior experience is not necessary. The position offers a platform for professional development and growth for promising candidates. 

Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific needs of the organization and may include:

 

  • Farm chores: Assisting with feeding, watering, and moving livestock

  • Client pet care: Walking, playing, feeding, and assisting in training activities, cleaning, and maintaining kennel buildings

  • Personal kennel: Helping with whelping, feeding, and rearing of puppies, assisting in puppy socialization protocols, feeding, watering, or relieving household dogs, assisting with training, conditioning, or grooming

  • Administrative tasks: Drafting newsletters, flyers, social media posts, client handouts, and other materials. Helping with photos, videos, and other productions. Participating in community events and vendor booths


 

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
The ideal candidate possesses the following qualities:

  • Ability to take and follow instructions well

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Willingness to work in various conditions, including indoors and outdoors, in varying temperatures and climates

  • Ability to adapt to different job needs

  • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability

  • Confidence in customer interactions and relations

  • Basic typing, word processing, or computer skills 

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS 

  • This job includes working hands-on with a variety of dogs including all breeds, ages, and sizes.

  • A large portion of this position requires employee to work confidently solo once appropriately trained in handling and protocols. 

  • Further company involvement, professional development, and pay raise considered for the ideal candidate who is looking to grow alongside a small business. This is not a short-term position.

We work inside and out - all around the farm, 365 days a year! Sometimes we have to go out in the rain, snow, or heat and have to plan accordingly.

Successful operation of a business requires good management, consistent operations, and clear communication. Applicants are expected to learn and follow instructions and adhere to protocols to ensure smooth operation. We will train you on the tasks at hand.

This job will require occasional weekend work.
