ABOUT CHAR

Charlotte "Char" Wagner, BSc Hons, is a Certified Dog Trainer and Behaviorist with more than 20 years of experience working with dogs and their people. Through K9ology, she offers a wide range of services, including semi-private group training classes, personalized one-on-one programs, board and train options, educational seminars, and engaging community events.
Her training philosophy is rooted in science-based methods, positive reinforcement, motivation, and clear communication using a clicker or verbal marker. Char emphasizes practical, real-world training that is both effective and enjoyable, with a mission to empower dogs and their owners through successful learning and confident handling skills.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Charlotte tailors her training and behavior work to the unique needs of each dog and handler team. She believes in looking beyond simple compliance, honoring each dog as an individual, and creating customized strategies that support lasting progress and a stronger human-canine relationship.
Char began her career in Rockville, Maryland, working with shelter dogs while studying psychology in college. Recognizing that her future lay in a more animal-focused field, Charlotte moved to England to study at the University of Essex / Writtle Agricultural College. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Animal Science and was recognized with the Most Improved Student Award among her veterinary classmates. During her college years, she also successfully operated K9Paws Dog Training in London.
In 2012 Charlotte came back stateside and set up K9ology - first renting brick and mortar space in Warrenton, and eventually purchasing a commercial property for the K9ology Center! The rest is history!
Charlotte is a scientist first and foremost (hello, dog nerd!), but she is also a Nikon Professional Photographer, an AKC preservation breeder, public speaker, and published writer. She serves on the trainer board of the SpotOn GPS fence system, and is the director of New Hope Pet Adoption Services.
